The Germany - Netherlands border on the Europa Radbahn cycleway between Groesbeek* 🇳🇱 and Kleve 🇩🇪. The route is a former railway, but retains a single track carrying tours on special railway cycles.

In the November edition of Highways Magazine, @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social reflects on the good news that walking rates seem to have stabilised since Covid and they have increased after a decline of a few years.

Marine Parade, Great Yarmouth.
A wonderful sea-front mobility path for people cycling, land trains and horses pulling carriages; although perhaps lacking onward connectivity for cycle traffic.

The Pfaffenthal Panoramic Elevator in Luxembourg City, an interesting piece of vertical public transport between the Alzette valley and the main city.

Cycle parking reserved for non-standard cycles, outside the Evelyn Street shops, Deptford, London Borough of Lewisham. A handy addition to the cycle parking at the shops by Cycleway 4.

St Michael's Avenue, Coventry - one of the routes to the cathedral.
It's subtle, but notice the smooth paving to the left of the footway to give an accessible route through the cobbles.

Raising a road and dipping a cycle track at a bridge with open views is a very Dutch approach which has been used here on the route through Manorway Green in Thamesmead, London.

This Friday evening, our founder @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social will be giving a talk to CYCLEWight where he'll be hoping to give some inspiration on the infrastructure that can support rural, village and town cycling.

For some upcoming training, we've redesigned a client's junction for them to show the art of the possible - a Cycle Optimised Protected Signals (CYCLOPS) junction. There's a trade-off with the floating crossings, but this is a good way to manage the three modes.

The zebras are offset by about 45 degrees from the signalised crossings of the main road. The north-south arms have two traffic lanes approaching the junction (right and ahead/ left) and one on each of the east-west roads. The north-south cycle tracks have verge buffers and east-west has wide cycle lanes.

This is the main route between Arnhem and Nijmegen which has been built to the 4m standard before it was adopted! The photo is roughly on the inter-urban section.

An old pump repurposed as art just off the Greenway in east London, which is on top of Sir Joseph Bazalgette's Northern Outfall Sewer and connects Beckton to Wick Lane in Bow.

A very large pump from a sewage works, probably 2m tall and looking like a spiral. It is painted greyish at the bottom with the top being yellow and then orange with purple spots - almost like a coiled mythical beast.
