Why must they grow up?
This was taken on 17 May 2008. My little girl is gone...now an adult, facing life with new challenges. Like the hour hand on a clock, you cannot see it move, but looking back, you realize it never stood still.

👩‍🏫 Fellow STEM Instructors:
Do you allow or require photo documentation in your labs?

How do you address safety, equity, and data permanence?

Would love to hear how others are blending visual tools with core scientific habits.

🔍 Why Photos (videos) Matter
Document setups, procedural steps, and final results
Create a verifiable, reproducible lab record
Strengthen written entries in lab notebooks

4/n This reflects real-world expectations in FDA-regulated and professional labs, where Good Documentation Practices (GDP) are essential.

I emphasize:
“If it’s not documented, it didn’t happen.”

Do you happen to have a "junk drawer" phone you can donate for a good cause?

In my chemistry labs, students are required to document their experimental work, observations, actions. A Camera is one way to do it!

Do you still use paper lab notebooks in your lab courses—or have you gone digital? 🧪📓💻
A small research team (including some of my undergrads) is developing a new #ACS publication focused on modern lab notebook pedagogy in undergraduate science programs.
We’d love your insights #ChemEd #LabNotebook

This book is meant to give us a clue to the human predicament. The setting of this passage? Ancient America 70 years prior to Christ's visit to the Americas after his resurrection (for those who believe in this book it seems to parallel today).

Please come risk your health; donating blood in an airtight building where it is preached & taught that one can miraculously prevent the spread of an aerosol infection by simply washing hands.

Stern argument with the respiratory technician. She was only donning a ASTM III (yellow surgical), She started giving me the droplet dogma & I just flat out, knee jerk reaction, said "Bull shi*!" She then donned a 3M Aura.

Thanksgiving is 100x less stressful—and so much more enjoyable—than the whirlwind days leading up to Christmas. It shouldn’t be stressful! Trying to manager family funds, trying to please a wife and daughters, it’s no easy feat. Wishing everyone a joyful, peaceful & less stressful holiday season!

My dairy days were 1979 (age 12) to 1998 (BYU grad). We rinsed suction cups between cows, sterilized before/after each teat, and kept mastitis low: 3–4 cows per 100.

Sharing these 1989 pics—great memories! 🐄✨

Somehow, I deleted the rest of its response before I could capture a screenshot, it was pretty witty and clever and was not able to reproduce it. So, this was a final attempt. 😜
