A comparison of elections in New Jersey and Virginia, which fortunately have the same classes of Senators.

This chart compares the difference in margin b/w the two stats for the same office since 2000. Generally, NJ was 10pts better for Dems than VA, but they have become more even since 2014.

Uh oh. Chicago Union Station is showing the wrong track for the Hiawatha today. There’s a Metra train at track 5 and it’s actually at track 9. Hopefully no one gets on the wrong train

Yep

Seen on Reddit. With most responses noting that this isn’t the case for them (b/c DMW experience is mostly based on state choices and aren’t universal)

Chicago if all of the freight ROWs could be converted into S-Bahn style service.

What's the economic theory on how a federal $15 minimum wage would change this graph? I guess it would apply upward pressure on wages $15-30 ish?

I stumbled upon the progressive version of not knowing what NAACP stands for lmao

Wait, there’s no byline? Is this written by AI?

There’s just no way to be accountable for what’s being said?

A cozy cat on a mountain of blankets for your timeline

Inspired by Isaac Rowlett's picture of the area (posted on X), I thought about how to improve the chaotic and dangerous set of intersections that are FdL, Center, and 27th. The goal is to simplify vehicle movements and traffic lights to allow for a safer experience overall (and introduce PBLs)

Also enjoyed this Timelapse of trains going in and out of a revamped Rosslyn station, serving 4 lines across 3 platforms

Testing out my dream WMATA design in Subway Builder. This is what I have so far.

With either 5 or 8 min headways (depending on interlining), I'm at ~30k riders per day on the Red, Pink, and Orange lines, and 10k per day everywhere else.

It would look something like this when laid out flat. I hope this makes sense (it’s difficult to accurately explain)

Interesting to compare the freeway ring around Munich to Milwaukee. Probably a bit more justifiable to have done something like this

My city got a dedicated vehicle for cleaning bike lanes.

What is your city doing to ensure cyclists have a safe and enjoyable ride?

A story in 3 parts.

(My post was the 9 hrs before the other one, but I guess the rules and engagement doesn’t matter lol)

Crazy that there was supposed to be a freeway here. Glad that was stopped and replaced with better used

I made a quick model last year of Nebraska if Omaha and Lincoln continued growing rapidly and shifted left to where they “should” be, and it makes the state even.

Crazy to me that these are 4 equally populated districts.

For reference, here's Cincy-Columbus corridor vs Milwaukee at the same scale. The extent of the pink in Milwaukee is noticeable (the light yellow splotches in Milwaukee might indicate a growing exurban sprawl)

To answer this question I tried to make this map for larger midwest, but for some reason the shutdown is preventing me from downloading either Illinois or Iowa's data (but these other states are fine?)

Thought it would be fun to make a population density map of Wisconsin using Census Block data from 2020. The colors scale exponentially, so pink to red means a doubling in population density. Below a certain threshold, I made the color white, to highlight the places were people live.

Wow twice the price (and an additional hotel needed)

That isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, although the 2-4 am layover in Newton can’t be great

Lorde in Milwaukee is a 10/10 from me. Will definitely need to find my voice again tomorrow.
