I really don't understand why European cities would jeopardize their (very good!) transport networks by introducing robotaxis.

This completely breaks my ebook workflow too. Now the only thing I would possibly go to Amazon for is DRM-free music (and only then if Bandcamp or others don't have what I am looking for). I guess it is only a matter of time before they kill that too.

What I hope you take from this is that you actually need to help people get to where you're at. That is work which *you* have to do. You cannot simply say "it's not my job to educate you"

I understand it's exhausting and many people truly should not have to take that on. But those who can should.

What I think is getting lost here is that people actually need reminders about... everything.

This may sound like a dumb/crass comparison but almost every single person on Earth knows what Coca-Cola is and yet the company spends bajillions on advertising.

We need that reinforcement for civics.

Would you say those addicted to nicotine are "choosing" their cigarette addiction?

I think it's better to understand this from that perspective. People need help to make better choices and we had damn well better start helping them.

Okay lovely internet people, let me clarify that I mean actual talking. As in face-to-face communication, or maybe even a phone call 😲

The time to shy away from awkward discussions should, I believe, be far behind us.

And that's the the crux of the problem. When my computer crashes, it stops working. When there's a render error, I can see it. Hell, if my heat stops working - my heat stopped working.

LLMs appear to "work" all the time, and the failure mode is only experienced later as real-life consequences.
