Because the level of random mass gun violence that's been happening in this country for my whole fucking life is not ok, and there has to be a better way.

I believe deeply in the importance of changing culture, of fighting racism and misogyny, of trying to raise boys (esp white boys) to deal with their emotions in healthy ways and not take them out on other people - but that's the kind of slow, deep work that takes decades, even centuries.

How do you stop the kind of shooters who aren't driven by poverty and desperation, but by racism and misogyny, and aren't in community in any real ways where they could be reached?

I just don't believe that giving more power to the state, and in particular the cops - who are such a major source of gun violence themselves - can reduce violence.
