With it's 20th anniversary being just last week, I don't think I realized how much of an impact #HalfLife2 had on me in 2004. It really was the catalyst of how I would view/critique games 'till this day.
If you have never played it, or haven't played it in years, just play it.

Learning a new industry while pushing 40 has it's unique challenges, but also it's unique rewards. Never live in fear. Always be curious as to what else is out there for you.
