Four careers—precision machinist, freelance film cameraman, classical record buyer for an independent record store, postproduction engineering/supervision at an undergraduate film program. Now retired. Witness to too much over the last 60 years. Taoist.

Whenever someone says some aspect of our government should be ”run like a business,” remember that CEO pay is 280 times higher than the average worker. Don’t expect ethical behavior out of a government entity run like a business.

Won’t be changing providers to T-Mobile then. When I have a choice, not a dime goes to the techbroligarchs.

Sorry, Donny. Your offer to leave if you get good ratings is just as hollow as any offer you ever made in your lifetime. For the first time in decades, I’m skipping this year’s honors show.

How about something homemade instead? Written by my brother in law as a gift to his family.

AI world:
“Move fast and break things.”

Real world:
“You break it, you buy it.”
“You break it, you have to clean it up.”
“Don’t break that, someone might get hurt.”

Be happy she is satisfied with a tablet. Years ago, my cat chewed through the cable of my computer mouse, and came prancing down the stairs with it dangling from his mouth to show me the result of his successful “hunt.”

We must stop giving power to people whose lack of an ethical core and their aberrant behavior is public record. Every public office, every position of influence, no matter how high or low, must be filled by a person of good character. I’ll trust policy decisions derived from that.
