8 years ago, I did a whole series of "Sad Grown-Up Kevin McCallister" tweets and no one else liked them but I still think they rank among the best things I've ever written.

I didn't mention it in this @cinemashame.bsky.social episode we just released but apparently near the end of the Broadway run of PLAY IT AGAIN SAM, Woody Allen was replaced by Bob Denver and now all I can think of is how different the film would have been with Gilligan opposite Keaton.

Our new episode is up! For it @houseofglib.bsky.social made @jamesdavidpatrick.bsky.social watch one of the worst movies they've ever sat through for the podcast, all so Allan could honour the death of one of his favourite performers. We each grieve in our own ways.

Up today is our belated tribute episode to Diane Keaton where, to quote @jamesdavidpatrick.bsky.social's intro, I spend the entire 77 minutes "fangirling" over one of my on-screen crushes. Also, we talk about TOWN & COUNTRY which is terrible. Really terrible.

Now if someone cast Deutch as Seberg in a movie about the making of PAINT YOUR WAGON, I would take a day off work to be there for the opening day matinee.
Reading about NOUVELLE VAGUE begs the question, "Will Allan watch a biopic about a filmmaker he dislikes making a movie he's never enjoyed just because he wants to see if Zoey Deutch can pull-off Jean Seberg?"

Hey! @jamesdavidpatrick.bsky.social and @houseofglib.bsky.social are working on an upcoming episode dedicated to movies that try to convince us an objectively gorgeous woman is too plain for men to be interested in them. What are your fave examples of this weird phenomenon?

Watching NO HOLDS BARRED reminded me both of the transgressive films of Lloyd Kaufman and Norman Apstein's ICE CREAM MAN, a very confused film made by a porn director who lost all sense of what was appropriate for a mainstream exploitation film after years making some of the most bizarre XXX videos.
If you've got a half hour to kill, why not listen to my 2nd @cinemashame.bsky.social solo episode? In it, I discuss what happens when you watch a movie and realize it's mostly deliberately shitty instead of accidentally shitty. No positive Hulkster references GUARANTEED!
