Random movie recommendation of the day. Winterbottom was on a tear for about a decade (love love love his mid 90's film "Wonderland") and "The Claim is just perfection.

Movie Rec of the Day: If there were a Mount Rushmore of reluctant, hazy P.I.s, first is Elliot Gould as Marlowe, followed by Jeff Lebowski. Add Ray Barrett to the list. "Goodbye Paradise" (1983), a beast of a neo-noir and the first "Gold Coast noir" I've been exposed to. An underseen gem of a movie.

Random Movie Recommendation of the Day: The Last Picture Show (1971)- 15-year-old me saw this movie and then tried to write a screenplay about kids in a small Texas town. Plus I grew up in a small Texas town. Plus Cybill Shepherd.

Random Movie Recommendation of the Day: "Basquiat" (1996). With all the talk of Jeffrey Wright's performance and accolades for "American Fiction", here's one of his earliest roles. And, oh that ending.

Random movie recommendation of the day: Moreau and Belmondo take seductive walks around a ghostly seaside town. Based on a Marguerite Duras novel. Basically a tale of how love can be killed in two different ways.
