So many great memories in this theater. Seeing West Side Story in 70mm being one of my favorites. If you're ever in Chicago, The Music Box is an absolute institution and a relic of the old time movie houses.

It's amazing how films, like all art, affect you differently depending on when you experience them. This has been a favorite for a very long time. For whatever reason, when I watched it today the scene when Richie takes his glasses off and faces himself for the 1st time brought tears to my eyes.

Thinking about what this would look like as a double feature....

Spring Breakers-- Maybe sex, violence, and a bit of the gangster life is a little fun?

Moonlight-- Nvm.

The greatest romance films have a happy ending. The greatest love stories…often never do. Happy Valentine’s Day 🫀

Today we're celebrating a very underrated film from one of the great directors of the modern era. P.T. Anderson's 2014 stoner noir Inherent Vice. This movie is hazy, funny, & just has a vibe that keeps bringing me back. It's currently streaming on MAX.

Today we acknowledge one of the GOATs. The epitome of a character actor with an unparalleled filmography. It’s hard to choose just one favorite Willem Dafoe performance, so here are two: David Lynch’s Wild at Heart & Robert Eggers’s The Lighthouse.

CASABLANCA was released 82 years ago this week. One of the biggest and most iconic films to ever come out of Hollywood, the story behind the scenes is like the beginning of a beautiful friendship…

Biggest snub this year has to be Denis Villeneuve not getting a best director nomination for Dune 2.

The Brutalist will win best picture.

Demi Moore deserves it.

Emilia Pèrez has 13 nominations??????

No love for Margaret Qualley?

*do* watch classic cinema

but don’t watch movies seeking the answer to “what is the most important movie” or whatever

Watch as many movies from as many eras as your brain cells can contain

Eraserhead is a haunting exploration of the fear of parenthood, wrapped in surrealism & body horror. It captures the anxiety & isolation of raising a child like no other film. It’s raw, nightmarish, and unsettling. A true surrealist horror masterpiece.

The Brutalist is an emotionally gripping film about the immigrant experience & the pursuit of the American dream. It explores the harsh realities of capitalism & how immigrants are often exploited to fulfill others’ ambitions. Beautifully shot and masterfully crafted, go see it.
