Me: [pull up a D&D sourcebook]
Adobe AI: Wow! This is a long document! Would you like me to summarize it for you?

I cannot imagine something more useless than a summarized rulebook.

Like I know Adobe has a reputation for having bad products because they have a monopoly, but I didn't expect *reading a PDF* in Adobe to be this bad.

I use CTRL+F on a PDF in Firefox and it instantly is like "here's all 36 uses of that word" or whatever. And frankly CTRL+F is 90% of why I will pull up the PDF of a document instead of a physical copy.

Like, even once you get past the three different AI sidebars and prompts, I have to right-click switch to a different cursor to select text, I have to hunt around to find the right icon to pull up the Table of Contents, and term searching with CTRL+F takes forever and barely ever works.

Leopards, etc

So there are some things like that which I regard almost more like errata waiting to happen than retcons.

But Tymanther was a choice, and a weird one, and I am upset by it.

So I think there are a lot of errors like that which don't come from any kind of intentional master plan to reset stuff and more just from the current design team being a bunch of newbies and making mistakes because they weren't there when some of this lore stuff was originally decided.

Like, they *should* know Cimbar was destroyed in the Spellplague and Tchazzar rules from Erebos now, but if you look up Cimbar on the Wiki the history section ends with "and Tchazzar rules from this city, which is definitely still standing".

I actually think some of the errors, like that one, come from the newbies on the team being much more open to using the Wiki than past designers (because they lack someone like Kim Mohan or Matt Sernett) but then frankly the Wiki is super out of date in places.

Anyways, I have a theory that the Tymanther/Unther situation was too close a parallel to Israel/Palestine for comfort. I don't know why you wouldn't resolve it with Tymanther victorious rather than Unther, except that WotC has also always seemed to like the idea of the destroyed dragonborn nation.

There's such a disconnect now too between the people working at WotC and that era - I think James Wyatt might be one of the only people around now who was also around ten years ago? Ben Petrisor too, but he's not really a lore guy afaik.
