More adventures into precisions gem cutting: luminous citrine cut in Andrew Brown’s Diamond Honeycomb Bar.

Cloisonné bowl done! This is a humorous representation of doublespeak - the malign rhetorical craft characterized by saying one thing but meaning another & that’s helped unacceptable social & political concepts become mainstream. Doublespeak’s imagery is cute but its skin shows its diseased nature.

The beginning stages of cloisonné enameling on a bowl - getting down foundation layers of enamel and fusing the bent wires. Already so many hours of work, keep on trucking!

Just finished this ring for a friend - intaglio carved jade, faceted citrine, set in sterling silver. Fun to use bigger mix of skill sets to make this really meaningful piece for a great person. 🩶💚🧡🩶

Just completed this hollow form signet ring today. Sterling silver and brass marriage-of-metals, set with a prasolite. Construction was tricky since I used marriage-of-metals, but the soldering held together! And now I can’t stop staring at it. Does anyone else do that with new work? 😂

In addition to metalworking and lapidary, I recently learned enamel cloisonné and love it! This is my third project. Currently working on another bowl. Will share process updates as it goes along. Anyone else into somewhat esoteric craft processes that are amazing and should be better known?

This is the ring I made with the YAG I faceted. Now belongs to a good friend.
Didn’t have the best studio day today - a migraine barged in. So rude. Hopefully tomorrow will be doubly productive.

Learning lapidary and gem cutting. These are two lab grown stones: a green YAG (Yttrium Aluminum Garnet, used in far infrared lasers) and yellow GAGG (Gadolimium Aluminum Gallium Garnet, used as a scintillator). They’re cut in Jeff Graham’s iconic Opposed Bar design. Gotta love geometric glimmer.

Hello! I’m Cindy, a new artist here on Bluesky! Wanted to share a recent project that shows what I’m interested in - gem cutting, Metalsmithing, and ceramics. The moissanite is cut using a rupee design by Arya Akhavan, I cast a setting for it and made a chain in sterling silver. Glad to be here!
