Always working to empower math educators and to build equitable math spaces where all students see their value in mathematics learning.
I’m so excited it’s here! Seeing Pam Harris a couple of times recently speaking on some of the content of this book really has me excited for the potential this book holds to influence my work with teachers!

It was a great day!! I got to see a dream I have had come to fruition. We worked with 40+ SW Ohio educators to deeply study the Foundations of Early Numeracy. I can’t wait to see where this work continues to grow to in the future. Special thanks to Deborah Peart and her messages we could share!

I got to work w a district math ldshp team this week. We always start our time by doing a math task and positioning ourselves in the space Ss occupy everyday in our class. This time we used Cube nets vs cube nots from @playwyourmath.bsky.social it was accessible to all & lead to great discussions!

Once again grabbing so many nuggets from one of my greatest math Ed colleagues @gfletchy.bsky.social during the @buildmathminds.bsky.social Virtual Math Summit. I can’t believe I got to spend time with Graham again for free through this conference!

I have seen first hand the incredible discussions that have happened in this Ohio course for an Alg 2 alternative. And many Ss began to believe in their love for math again because of the learning in this course (and the T too). Make time to join this session at #NCTMKC25!
Can't wait to spend a few days with math friends at #NCTMKC25 and share a little about how Ohio is re-shaping secondary mathematics with Discrete Math / Computer Science! #mathdiscourse #productivestruggle #findingpatterns

Attended a memorial service for an elem principal yesterday. What came through in every message was their “unwavering belief in others”. This is what education is all about. The unwavering belief in Ss. They CAN learn. They WILL learn. They DESERVE to learn and it is our job to guarantee that.

Needing help from the elementary math community- have you ever seen a good lesson on writing add/sub problems vertically for the first time? I’m struggling to find a good example of how to introduce it and all of the complexities that come with it! TIA #iteachmath #mtbos

Recently I have been struggling with teachers telling Ss “we learn all these strategies and then you pick the one that works for you”. This then leads to them stacking and doing the traditional algorithm for 300-297. I want this conversation to turn into “pick the right strategy for the problem”!

When working with a group of teachers if I want to have a deep conversation about math content, I LOVE to use a standard progression sort. The way they dive into the language deeply and pull out all the aspects of the standard language is amazing!

Anyone know what’s going on with the “⚠️ Invalid Handle”? For some people it’s just in the handle but others it is their display name as well.

I’m planning for a quick pd moment with a group of teachers I have a great working rltshp with. Anyone know of a quick video or image to show the downfalls of using the butterfly method (for comparing, equivalent, adding, dividing, proportions… take your pick!). TIA ♾️
