Cincinnati Zoo serves as a second-stage rehabilitation facility in the Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP). Its role is to provide plenty of food, primarily lettuce, and veterinary care until the manatees are big and strong enough to be returned to Florida waters.

Slushie – Rescued on 1/6/2025 at Berkley Canal-Satellite Beach in Brevard County. Orphan calf with natural cold stress. Rescue weight = 119 lbs. Most recent weight = 225 lbs

The markings on their backs are from an animal-safe grease marker that helps the care team tell them apart while they are getting to know them.

For 15 years, the Zoo has been actively involved in reintroducing ABBs to Ohio. In 2025 we helped release more than 400 ABBs into Ohio!

The Zoo has been acting over the last two decades to support wild gorilla conservation, including the Mbeli Bai Study, the longest running research being done with wild gorillas.

The 3-day-old baby gorilla went outside today for the first time. Gladys may be a first-time mom, but she’s already a natural. Visitors can stop by Gorilla World on their next visit in hopes to get a glimpse of the new baby, but they will not be on a set schedule of when they will be out.

Twelve-year-old gorilla Gladys is a mom! A healthy baby boy was born on Saturday, September 20, at 8:32 a.m. Mom and baby are doing well. This is Gladys’ first baby and the 51st gorilla born at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.

Happy 1st Birthday to Daisy the bonobo! Like chimpanzees, bonobos share 98.7% of our DNA. But unlike gorillas or chimpanzees, bonobos are a matriarchal society. They are female lead, and female bonds take priority over male bonds.
