Man I remember being so excited when the US was picked as a host country and Seattle seemed likely to get games. Now it's clear there was no point in that excitement. These games were never going to be for me.

Hooverville, meet Trumptown. (Or maybe we can just refer to homeless encampments as Trump Towers).

Possibly apocryphal but growing up in Michigan it was taken as canon that Henry Ford's greatest insight as a business leader was the idea that he needed to pay his workers enough to be able to afford his products.

Why that seems like such a tough lesson for today IDK.

We had one for a neighbor. Calm like a pond on a windless summer day. Super nice dude that somehow gave off a sort of hippie vibe. Very much not the "type" I would've expected.

Abstract numbers in a graph for most people. Americans are gonna be happy to drive around in their pickups waving their guns around on the way to the diabetes center for a long time. Chinese people will watch that show via satellite to their brain chips and get a good laugh.

Genuinely feel for people directly impacted but let's keep the blame squarely where it sits on the GOPs head.

This is the same argument Chamberlain made "think of all the Czech lives saved.

And, yeah, the Czechs did reasonably well in that deal; rest of Europe not so much.

Wrecked me for 24 hours. But compared to what I've heard about actual shingles totally worth it.

I was trying to explain to my daughter why she has more in common with the dude under the bridge than a plutocrat by using an income distribution curve and standard deviations.

Your way is better. 😬

Totally true for checkout clerks, bank tellers ... most people.

I will say though that the 20 minutes of chitchat I have to endure before talking work with my UK colleagues gets a bit excessive.
