Yes I do have opinions and no they are not those of my employer.
The Campanian is my Roman Empire.
#FossilFriday #ostracod 3D printed at 100x. When I screenwash for mammal teeth I find a huge variety of fossils, including this one. It's the best way to learn about the whole ecosystem.

Check out this awesome exhibit in the OSU-Tulsa library! 3D prints of Jurassic mammal teeth, an ostracod, & a charophyte fruiting body, all found in Oklahoma. All printed at 100x so one can see them without a microscope, so cool. There's more matrix to pick, so I'm hoping it's volunteer inspo.

How could I give up using those buoyant, high-volume, purpose-designed, *beautifully* crafted, wooden screen sets for fossils?

These pack down small to store, are extremely lightweight, need no maintenance, don't get waterlogged, won't cut your hands up.

This is ~25 nested sets, loosely packed.

The best way to discover the full diversity of vertebrates in your fossil site is to screenwash for the tiny fossils. A few years ago I stopped using the wooden screen boxes (foreground) in favor of biodiesel screens (also foreground). They're not as buoyant, but will float in a ring of pool noodle.
