Mostly about rugby, other sports and music.
You might be onto something there. It would have been based around the idea of playing two 10s in the backline, but having one of them at fullback rather than at at inside centre. It was working well for Saracens at the time, hence the proposed approach.

They didn't? I missed that bit. Was it because Sexton and Kearney were already there and almost impossible to drop?

There's a player in Bordeaux who's previously worked with Connacht's head coach that just might fit that bill.

I sent this to a mate of mine 4 years ago. Also, this exact hypothetical scenario was raised at a Leinster Referee meeting in 2022 with people were voicing their concerns about the 20 minute red. It was subsequently agreed that these concerns would be relayed to the IRFU.

In an empty clubhouse yelling at a picture of Rassie.

A full red card in the modern game is woke. Just like citing, alternative jerseys and the 7-1 bench split.

The occasion and the product would both have been lessened if a full red was given...

The optimist in me says that fans won't attend games even if they travel, as they'll be priced out of it.

What's disappointing is that it's nothing new. The Berlin Olympics of 1936 come to mind, but I dare say that there are earlier examples than that.

I can't find a link, unfortunately, but one of the Scottish players threw the first punch. You can only see a glimpse of it in the broadcast, but it's there. Ollivon knew this and was saying "in the beginning" while the ref was explaining why Haouas was getting the red card.

It was also incredibly dumb, given that his team were assured victory at that point. And then there's the fact that the stadium was full of cameras.

It's farcical. Bans seem to be getting lighter and lighter and there are more loopholes being exploited every now and then. It lessens the impact of the ban and doesn't provide a credible deterrent for on-field misconduct.
December 4, 2025 at 11:36 PM
I never said I'd encourage it while on the pitch. Too many witnesses...

Don't care who or what you are, an eye gouge it a minimum of a year for a ban. And it doesn't help when former players "joke" and suggest that he'd have been better off throwing a punch instead.
December 4, 2025 at 11:22 PM
I'd encourage someone to do it, but the outcome would be skewed. It would most likely be a 3 year ban, reduced by 2 years and 51 weeks due to admission of guilt, remorse, provision of outstanding biscuits at the hearing and exemplary character references.

I've occasionally wondered how that would have panned out if the TMO didn't forget to rewind the tape and look at how the whole fracas started.

Wouldn't surprise me. It's his bread and butter.

Ru again. Also never not at it. 🙄

From recollection, it was essentially their "hot girl of the week". Nothing more than a lazy attempt to generate website traffic, as if the clickbait headlines weren't already enough.
December 3, 2025 at 2:20 PM
Ah, Josephs clickbait, never not at it. To be fair to them, they did put a fair bit of work into scrubbing their "Joe Babes" content from the web. At this point, they just have to hope that people forget what they did to get their site up and running.

Somewhere, most likely at a generic Business Conference, Jamie Heaslip is fist pumping in response to this news.
