'While You Were Sleeping'

The idea for this #illustration was something I sketched 6-7 years ago in college. Through the course of life, I never did more than the initial thumbnails. I get an odd thrill finally seeing this one finished.

Even though I like creating digital art, working traditionally makes me feel like a kid again. Sitting down over the course of several days to hammer this out just felt right.

This is absolutely stunning. I really like how you added the canvas texture to this. The way you added rips to the edges of her face and head. Just a really playful way of adding more complexity. Bravo 👏🏾

Did this #sketch to warm up. Fun fact: I played trumpet for over 10 years and I really enjoyed playing jazz. I also learned how to play every other brass instrument but still have a lot of love for the horn.

The 1st image is the end result of this mornings stream. I wanted to make sure the areas that are dark were more pronounced. Looking at it now, I see an opportunity to push it farther 😁. Honestly, I post for feedback and to share my work with others but it helps me as well.

Slowly plugging away at this. I don’t attack it with the same gusto as I would #digitalart because I can’t backtrack once I put something down. It’s making it a fun experiment of I really thinking through how I want to execute the look I have in my mind.
