Yeah, I do think I specifically come from the angle of starting with Civ colouring my lens. Even then, though, I think I get pretty impatient with the particular busywork of cleaning up situations in 4X games because very rarely do the turns feel like they produce something interesting or engaging.

Universally, across all of these types of games I interact with, the thing that makes me hesitate to pick them up again or for the first time is the knowledge that the "clean-up phase" exists.
