Yes! I was a CNA at a small-town nursing facility (we had at most 24 residents) and this happened every time. Somewhat tangentially, I was also struck by how often people decided they were done and just stopped allowing life to happen to them, as it were.

I'm a US American who learned English here in the US and would have said, "two-thirty," at one point, but would say it today as, "half-fourteen," due to other influences (mostly British media and preferring 24hr notation).

What we really need is to stop teaching kids in a way that makes them hate learning. We have to have good counters for that, "when will I ever need this" attitude that switches people off. Teaching does nothing if students refuse to learn.

And as a person who moves states a lot, we should also have a (free!) short class on local driving laws that's mandatory to attend before registration/license can be acquired upon moving. Maybe get a discount for doing it? It should be easy and convenient for all.

The trick is to eat a good breakfast before you take your meds and then have dinner after they've worn off. Lunch often gets sacrificed on the altar of focus unless it's unbelievably delicious (that is, you can direct your focus to its consumption).

Does the writer not know about OpenOffice? It's an open source alternative to Office that can handle Office-based files. I've been using it for over a decade. If you don't like certain Windows features, just don't use them. But then I'd rather grate my face than use Linux.

Well yeah because in the past, electric trucks *weren't* feasible. Before hybrids and EVs became popular, there wasn't as much market pressure to make the R&D worth it. Now, it's easy to invest in improving the tech which, in turn, makes electric trucks plausible.

This! I'm capable of learning Linux, I'm sure, but why tf would I want to? I just use my computer to play games and look up info about playing games. Sometimes I set up 3-D prints or doodle in a cheap art program. Windows does all those things with no faff. 🤷

Indeed. Even if you're unfortunate enough to die alongside others, your death will be singularly yours. Even if you're surrounded by those who love you, you will be alone in your passing. Acceptance of this fact is the only real relief from that anxiety. 🤔☹️
