I've gotta get better at figuring out healthy dissociation. I know I need to be able to indulge in the things I enjoy without getting to the point that I completely separate myself from reality for long periods of time.

Yes!!! This is why universal design is so important. It rejects that idea that spaces and tools should be designed for the "typical" human and rejects the need for accommodations. Everyone should be able to use the things that are intended for everyone.
