Most of them pronounce it “drone strike”

I think this kind of nonsense is what deterred me from becoming a film critic years ago. Generally, people who say shit like “Never trust a film critic” haven’t read a single goddamn review in their life.

Some mispronunciations are like nails on a chalkboard for me, this being one of them.

Of course the Brits had to be meh about it

Satan really gets a bad rep. He made a career out of punishing people like this, doesn’t even get paid for it, that’s fucking saintly.

That’s what I said! One of my favorite things about silent era movies is that a lot of their special effects are created using magicians’ tricks. The Jim Henson movies were basically keeping a tradition alive

It did for me. I also tried to give the Wicked novel a read but I hated it. Just give me Baum’s books and any of the movies, really. That’s all I want or need.

My niece saw the movie and was just like “Eh, you can tell they were puppets”
January 4, 2025 at 3:23 AM
That’s cool! I’ve had a behind-the-scenes art book since I was a kid but I suspect it would only be interesting to people who already like the movie.

If a Pontiac Aztek was rendered in a PS1 game. That’s it. That’s what it looks like

Sometimes yes, but I never know what my preference is until after I’ve seen the movie. 🤷🏻‍♀️

First movie I saw in which Tim Curry was absolutely unfuckable. I still love it, though

Once you bring lawyers to a rap beef you can never recover, career’s over now if it wasn’t already. So I guess he decided to just keep digging deeper?

Alanis Morissette did it better than Taylor Swift, if we’re being real. It’s just that songs about dragging your ex didn’t bring in nearly as much money back then.

How did they like it? Genuinely. That’s such a special movie, but I also wonder if kids are so inundated with visual effects these days that they can’t appreciate the magic of older movies like that. I’ll always be blown away by Dark Crystal or Legend. But my niece? Not so much

Yes, in the same way you don’t have to see Rocky Horror to not understand the plot of Shock Treatment.

Can’t tell if serial killer or just a chaser

I think this version of Bob Dylan in particular was gonna appeal to old white men. Other old white folk singers like Woody and Pete were featured heavily but their politics were way in the back. I wonder why…

I’ve been thinking this is a uniquely American-made thing, our work ethic feels more like performance ethic. That end every other toxic trait got to simmer together for decades until we get “Yeah, you made a bomb but how many people did you kill?”

“Please explain to me…” *gestures vaguely*

That might actually be a good way to traffic certain contraband. Who would want to open that package and verify the contents?
