The British Newspaper Archives in partnership with @britishlibrary.bsky.social and @findmypast.bsky.social recently added Jackie to its' library, a weekly teens mag that ran from 1964 to 1993. This includes the popular Cathy and Claire' pages, an agony aunt page offering some questionable advice!

Military records provide excellent insights into heroic efforts countrymen went to in service, but files can sometimes report on the misdemeanours as well. This record shows this chap consistently being reported, but what might 'committing a nuisance in his bed' have referred to? #Genealogy

I do like coming across hand drawn Victorian adverts in publications. The 'Wye' Boots from the Directory of Herefordshire, 1902. You can Shoot AND walk in them! #genealogy

Back to a little Cypriot research for a couple of days and I found this photo of my Bapou (grandfather - centre) from when he was a chef at a posh French restaurant in central London. Poss. late 40's? Dad thinks it was called 'La vie' or similar. Any ideas? #genhour #genealogy

The books for my Dissertation literature review are piling up and taking over my desk. Not including the online resources and printed papers, I'll be glad to reclaim my desk for a while! #genealogy #dissertation #UniversityofStrathclyde #allconsuming

#FindtheOwnerProject. Several years ago, I bought a few collections of photos with the intention of finding the owners but things got crazy busy. I just found one folder so i thought I'd try this route and post a few to see what might happen. No markings on the back. #genealogy #photography

It feels quite progressive to find a death record in Scotland from 1940 where the informant of the 72 year old single gentleman who died is described as their 'intimate friend' rather than anything more denigratory. #genealogy #loveislove

Curious question of the day: 1851 Baptism in Fife. 2 out of the 6 baptisms on this page use this eloquent phrasing - does this suggest the other births came about by some other method? 🤔 #Genealogy

Stocktaking time at Cambridgeshire Archives. I'm not sure how much help I was whenever I found fascinating items to squeal at, like these documents with seals still attached and an old pre-Beck London underground map! #genealogy #archives

A J Mead was a struggle for the date and place, but there was an Andrew George Mead whose death was registered in Tynemouth in the 1st quarter of 1891. It's possible the article got J and G mixed up - others for that quarter and place don't look as plausable.

A quick reminder of how endogamy looks in Cypriot communities (as well as others) when using the @myheritageofficial.bsky.social Autoclusters tool. I haven't worked on any #Cypriot DNA yet where there hasn't been an element of pedigree collapse. What does your #autocluster look like? #genealogy

That satisfying feeling when you've built a tree for a Cypriot family with 21 DNA matches for use in the #WATO tool using minimum info from Trees across Ancestry & MyHeritage. Yes you might spot some endogamous matches there! Now to work out how this tree relates to the client! #genealogy #DNA

In Cyprus, Mukthars or Mouktaris are essentially mayors of villages who ran administrative tasks & signed off legal documents. Each village had a Mouktari assigned to them and back in 1921, this list of Muktar seals tells us which villages were Greek/Turkish Cypriot led (some were mixed) in Larnaca
