Frankenstein (2025) I like to think that GdT's Creature's gold-tinged trunks were a nod to Rocky Horror's gold lame briefs in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. 💛🤞🏻 2/2 #FilmSky

I Saw A Man by Owen Sheers. Took me ages to read as I found it v unpickupable. Beautifully written with many striking poetic similes but it was too long & rambling. 50% could've been chopped out with no detriment to the story – although that may have upended the subtly clever conclusion. #BookSky 💙📚

Mmmm... All sorts of primal fears and flight instincts bubbled up within me while walking under Castletown's heron sculpture.

There was a time when humans, and our evolutionary ancestors, had to deal with such creatures. Quite disturbing.

Sing-A-Long-A-Wicker-Man at Derby QUAD. Deeply disrespectful and contemptible mockery of a beloved film o' mine. How dare they! I have to say, it was great fun... Right until the brutal tonal shift at the end. The loving mockery suddenly felt awkward. 😳

Here at Derby QUAD for the deeply disrespectful 😤 Sing-a-long-a-Wicker-Man. There are some fantastic costumes here tonight including a bloke with a wicker bin on his head – genius. But this lady takes the metatextual gobstopper! 🤩 #FilmSky #TheWickerMan

Dead of Winter. Came for the Snow porn & Thompson. Wasn't disappointed by either. I did wonder why a Brit actor would get this part. Wasn't McDormand available? The story seemed to stretch credibility too. But it was an old-fashioned edge-of-your-seat thriller & Thompson *was* excellent. #FilmSky

Rest in peace, Claudia Cardinale.
Once Upon a Time in the West is my all-time favourite film. As Jill McBain, Claudia portrayed an amazingly strong woman, and a survivor, in very much a violent and deadly men's world.

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. It took me a while to get into this. In fact, I had to restart as I was finding it hard keeping track of all the characters! Rather unnecessarily detailed but imaginative and other-worldly, and a rewarding message is contained within.

Battleship Potemkin (1925) Saw the Deutsche Kinemathek with the PSB score verz @DerbyQUAD and it was spine-tingling. The Pet Shop Boys' ST wasn't too intrusive & was actually pretty good – not too much of Tennant crooning. Phew!

Battleship Potemkin (1925) I used to think the title was some kind of metaphor as I only knew of this film from ‘That Clip™️’. Great to finally see ‘That Clip™️’ in context.

Battleship Potemkin (1925) Well, bucket list film finally achieved! I can now see why it's so highly regarded. Amazing to think the editing in this was revolutionary & experimental at the time – audiences must've adapted very quickly to this fairly new way of telling stories visually.

I can imagine. Went through an Edward Tufte phase years ago. Also got a framed print of the Salyut 6 cyclogram. Stunning 🤯. Both are available from his website. Well, they were 20-odd years ago.
