Back to sologaming after a bit of a break.

A Place for All My Books: a cute cozy game about collecting books and arranging them in patterns in your house. Adorable wooden book tokens and a super cozy vibe. A relaxing game but still puzzle-y and just the right amount of difficult.

Star Trek Captain’s Chair: wow! Super complex but so rich and deep. The complexity works well with the theme and the diversity of Trek in the game is fun to play with. Lotsa brain power but well worth it.

Also played solo and it’s incredible as a solo game. Top notch Trek!

Lord of the Rings Trick-Taking Game: super looking forward to this! Love that they were able to put in a solo mode. Pretty interesting and thematic for a trick taking game. Clever and engaging!

Ticket to Ride Legacy: wow! So glad we got this to the table!! We went out of our way to schedule a game day just so I could try this out and it was super worth it! Loved all the new things in the game, kept us on our toes. We played 4 games today and will be playing again in a few weeks! #gamenight

Harmonies: I passed over this one when it came out because I didn’t want to play an abstract puzzle. But it made so many best-of lists, I got it. And I’m glad I did! It’s actually super fun and very cute. Just enough flavor to keep it engaging and the puzzle part is fun and thematic.

Arcs: the Blighted Reach Expansion: ok, we did it. Full day, three game campaign. A masterpiece game by @colewehrle.bsky.social - by the end, we were saying this was our favorite game. Good choices but not overwhelming and so deep and so layered. And above all, amazing story narrative

Atiwa: I’ve always had a soft spot for Uwe Rosenberg. Agricola was one of the first games to get me like that. Atiwa is very much like Uwe’s other big box games (gotta feed!) but I enjoy the story a lot—well researched. The engine building is always good. Plus, the bat meeples are fun.

Back to the Future: Back in Time: a super tense co-op experience. Definitely got crushed the first time but barely won the second time. Plenty of depth without too much unnecessary stuff.

Also, was able to play the perfect soundtrack since I happened to have the right vinyl.

Namiji: the sequel to Tokaido, this game is the same gameplay and mechanics but just a little bigger. Still a super chill game, one I would use to introduce newer gamers to board games with a low stress experience. Also, this is the Kickstarter version so the pieces were gorgeous!

Fury of Dracula: cool throwback to hidden movement games. Takes longer than you think but very tense.

Rivages: an interesting draft and write, with a very forgiving exploration mechanic and a pile of islands to get through. Simple to get, quick to play, and an interesting series of choices.

Washed Ashore: an interesting and fun story game, very reminiscent of a choose-your-own-adventure but much more expansive. I died like way too soon in my first play but I enjoyed it. Fun and interesting!

The Search for Planet X: we started with expert mode. That might have been a slight mistake. Still super interesting. I love deduction games, even if I’m only mediocre at them. #gamenight

Nothing Personal: this was chaotic. Reflective of the time it was designed. I think playing with more people would balance out the chaos more. Would love to give this a try with more people. #gamenight

Mind Mgmt: hidden movement game. Interesting to wrap your head around. I got super lucky in this one; luck can play a huge role in an early capture. But layered so would love to try again. #gamenight

Thunder Road Vendetta: all those wonderful pieces. Such a rich theme and so chaotic. I got destroyed in what must be a record short time but still a great game.

Rock Hard 1977: dripping in theme. Not as hard as it looks with all those decks of cards. The game flow is pretty great and moves at a clip. Love all the flavor text - it really gives you so many stories in such a small space.

Compile: great two player quick card game. Strategic and thoughtful but also fast and easy. Loads of depth squeezed into a small box.

Dead Cells: I like the concept of a rogue lite board game. I think it softens the blow of losing and gives some cool opportunities to engine build by improving your characters while dungeon diving too. I liked Slay the Spire too.

Star Trek Cryptic: I love puzzle solving so this was super fun to try out. The puzzles leaned more beginner than not but the theme was great. Love the Star Trek integration.

Maple Valley: cute cozy game. Adorable pictures and a nice chill vibe. Although, it actually caused a little more analysis paralysis than I expected because of how tied together the components are. Which should make for good replayability.
