you know what bugs me? i've never met someone before who told me they decided not to have kids and i have thought "yes, that's a good idea that you don't have kids" whereas i have often encountered the opposite....

Back to sologaming after a bit of a break.

A Place for All My Books: a cute cozy game about collecting books and arranging them in patterns in your house. Adorable wooden book tokens and a super cozy vibe. A relaxing game but still puzzle-y and just the right amount of difficult.

Trump literally making up a reason to march the military into the nation's capital should be terrifying to everybody.

Super excited to see Superman tomorrow. Just wanted to say how disappointed I am that Dean Cain (the first Asian Superman in popular media, btw) is a right-wing Trumper. Disgrace to the S.

Chinese international students are in a double bind: If they try to stay after graduating, they will be treated as a security risk and denied work. If they return to China, they’re accused of “stealing” US education and creating a “brain drain.”

We’re en route to a tacit return to exclusion.

Netanyahu has blocked aid to Gaza for two weeks. Last night, he ordered strikes that killed over 400 Palestinians, endangered hostages, and broke a fragile ceasefire.

Congress must uphold our laws and stop further weapons transfers to Israel.

Remember how in the original SW trilogy, they spent three movies destroying the Empire and finally got rid of them and overthrew the emperor? But then in the new trilogy, the Empire was just all of a sudden inexplicably back, only this time more sniveling and more whining?

anyway...

Star Trek Captain’s Chair: wow! Super complex but so rich and deep. The complexity works well with the theme and the diversity of Trek in the game is fun to play with. Lotsa brain power but well worth it.

Also played solo and it’s incredible as a solo game. Top notch Trek!

Lord of the Rings Trick-Taking Game: super looking forward to this! Love that they were able to put in a solo mode. Pretty interesting and thematic for a trick taking game. Clever and engaging!

Ticket to Ride Legacy: wow! So glad we got this to the table!! We went out of our way to schedule a game day just so I could try this out and it was super worth it! Loved all the new things in the game, kept us on our toes. We played 4 games today and will be playing again in a few weeks! #gamenight

Harmonies: I passed over this one when it came out because I didn’t want to play an abstract puzzle. But it made so many best-of lists, I got it. And I’m glad I did! It’s actually super fun and very cute. Just enough flavor to keep it engaging and the puzzle part is fun and thematic.

Arcs: the Blighted Reach Expansion: ok, we did it. Full day, three game campaign. A masterpiece game by @colewehrle.bsky.social - by the end, we were saying this was our favorite game. Good choices but not overwhelming and so deep and so layered. And above all, amazing story narrative

Atiwa: I’ve always had a soft spot for Uwe Rosenberg. Agricola was one of the first games to get me like that. Atiwa is very much like Uwe’s other big box games (gotta feed!) but I enjoy the story a lot—well researched. The engine building is always good. Plus, the bat meeples are fun.

Back to the Future: Back in Time: a super tense co-op experience. Definitely got crushed the first time but barely won the second time. Plenty of depth without too much unnecessary stuff.

Also, was able to play the perfect soundtrack since I happened to have the right vinyl.

Namiji: the sequel to Tokaido, this game is the same gameplay and mechanics but just a little bigger. Still a super chill game, one I would use to introduce newer gamers to board games with a low stress experience. Also, this is the Kickstarter version so the pieces were gorgeous!
