Can't wait to hear this.

I was celebrating my ninth birthday. We were driving home from Showbiz Pizza Place (a chain I think got absorbed by Chuck E. Cheese, it was pretty much the same thing) and they announced it over the radio. I remember trying to explain to my younger sister who he was.

Every time I read something like this, I wonder who is this skilled and gifted writer they keep talking about, because I never saw it.

I liked Once Upon a Time in Hollywood a lot, as well.

I can't think of a single film of his I haven't enjoyed, but I also feel like there should have been some growth as a filmmaker that simply didn't happen. Keeps talking about retiring while he's on top, when he's just starting to mature.

Are you using a VPN? Because I always have to turn mine off to edit anything on Wikipedia.

I guess I'm a little happy to see SOME LIKE IT HOT not be the default #1 for once. It's fine, but it's hardly the funniest movie ever made.

And, yes, I do acknowledge that the final line is great. But most of the film is "Look! Guys in dresses!"

He played New Orleans at least three times during the time I've lived down here. Even played the House of Blues, which is not a large venue. Can't believe I somehow missed that.

This news hit me harder than I expected this morning.

Given his age, I knew it was unlikely I'd ever see him live, but I know he used to play Jazz Fest in the years before I started regularly attending, so I held out a faint glimmer of hope.

Watching it as a teenager I wasn't deep enough to pick up on all that, but I was smart enough to think "But if you solve her murder, why would Agent Cooper need to stick around?" And sure enough, they had to keep coming up with half-assed reasons for him to stay.

it's always been funny to me that as someone who listens to music nearly every waking moment, I could barely quote any lyrics back to you, unless I heard them during that stretch of formative teenage years where things stick with you unusually well.

Was this that brief stretch when some locations had a special evening dinner menu? I have a fuzzy memory of going to one near my college around 93-94, and getting table service and all these options when I just wanted a burger and fries.

I was lucky enough to see Bowie tour for that album, along with NIN. I wish I'd seen his later Reality tour, because as excited as I was to see this one, I don't think I fully appreciated what a big deal it would be for me as my appreciation toward him grew in later years

I know it's probably music licenses that hold these things back, but it seems nuts that something that old, with increasingly limited mass audience interest, can't just be thrown up somewhere for free.

I miss the days when TV shows had to come up with 20+ episodes a season, or comic books had to produce 12 issues a year, or a musician had to write another song to put something on the b-side. Sometimes constraints can result in fun stuff.

But some of them send me emails on my birthday. They wouldn't do that if they didn't care.
