New Zealand's current legislated domestic 2050 "net-zero" target excludes biogenic methane. Including the separate methane target, it adds up to a 62-73% reduction in total net emissions in 2050 (orange in graph). 1/-

The projections from 2023 are shown here (green dashed line): a rapid reduction in emissions was projected, with the gap to the NDC only 58Mt... 26Mt better than now projected. 4/-

This graph below shows the latest 2025 government projection for net emissions from planned policies (WAM scenario, blue), and the 84Mt gap between that and New Zealand's 2021-30 Paris Agreement NDC (red). This part is alarming, but not new. 2/-

Really stoked with the new retaining wall that has given us a flat garden area in our sand-dune back garden. Courgettes, strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes ready to go in the new garden boxes after Monday's storm.
