Wildfire Dryad. 9x11 ink on smooth bristol paper.

She’s mourning the loss of her forest. But, she will survive and replant. But for now she mourns. Or so says my youngest son who refuses to believe she’s burned alive.
We lost my oldest son to a reckless driver on 3/23/24. Still healing.

So, I haven’t been feeling creative lately. Dealing with an anniversary of loss. I meant to be working on a tribute piece for my son who died on his motorcycle 3/23/24. I just couldn’t. So instead when I felt up to it I worked on this. Sepia fine liner pens, watercolor, and golden ink.

So I’ve been quiet for a while because I was struggling with this Gaia picture. I used ink fine liner, ink and brush, alcohol markers, and color pencils. But, i finally got to a point to let it go. #art #mixedmedia

Here’s an ink drawing of my childhood best friend. Isn’t she gorgeous? I always loved the red in her black coat. The second image is the original sketch from a year previous to show how much I have improved. 9x12 ink on smooth bristol.

Rep. Jamie Raskin with workers of the CFPB:

"These people need a basic lesson in the U.S. Constitution. Elon Musk didn't create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Representatives of the people of the United States Congress created the CFPB."

Something that seems to escape MAGA.

What’s irritating me right now is people that dissed me for being a liberal are now like, ”see, I told you this would happen“. Like they weren’t on board with this until recently. You can scrape the bumper stickers off your car but you know how you cast your vote. And, now you can live with it.

This weeks watercolor practice. I’d like to say this simple painting was easy. The first misty mountain I painted was. But, then I couldn’t replicate it. I have a hard time with this loose style of painting. Maybe I’m used to seeing my pictures in line art. Doesn’t matter. Keep creating. #watercolor

20 years + ago I was working as a props artisan and set painter when life took a left turn. 2 years ago I bought some paint to liven up my bare walls. I ran out of walls and my family made me a small studio space. I went back to inks and watercolors. Still learning. My advice, don’t stop creating.

Green Man, 11x14 watercolor and pen. #greenman #art My husband insists that this is based on him. That’s what he tells people anyway. I did have a different reference but there is a slight resemblance.

I love painting with inks. It can be a little tricky because the ink sets into the paper more than watercolor. But, once it’s dry it’s pretty much water resistant. At least the Windsor and Newton that I use are.
