"I genuinely think" is used as it automatically confers thoughtfulness. When it can just as easily denote genuine thoughtlessness.

Most people would never react like this, if a loved one of that age came to them in distress. Yet widen it to an entire group and this cruelty feels permissible. 2/3

Imagine the outcry if one posted about rates of dementia having risen by over 40% in the last decade, ignoring contributing factors, effect of the pandemic, rise in absolute numbers, etc. And just said "I genuinely think" old people are obsessed with being looked after and must be putting it on. 3/3

I hope this bill passes and begins a legislative journey beyond the bill's current boundaries. Death, unfortunately, is too often a distressing time despite palliative care involvement. I think I have a right to choose the time of my passing if I have a terminal illness.
