I think it's undeniable now that at least some of the instances of violence and assassination currently being done in the US are, in fact, operations by the Trump administration, FBI, or some other element of the state

although in many ways this is true, I wince at the idea of psychologizing class. To the extent it's a 'mental illness', it's just the personal manifestation of the societal forces of class. It's socioeconomically bound, it's the logical conclusion of the incentives of the capitalist class
If you make a billion dollars — or $500 million or even $100 million dollars — and you keep trying to make more, then there is something seriously wrong with you. It's a mental illness akin to hoarding or drug addiction.

in the same way many of the US's problems would resolve themselves if we collectively accepted it's a nation in decline, the same thing would happen if we all accepted the social media and big tech has unequivocally made significantly more things worse than they've improved
