Hope without reason is only a deep sadness: AI makes art obsolete 💰☠️

Alas, for The Falls by Peter Greenaway, there are no GIFs.

I’m also down for The Blues Brothers… likely 14x over 45 years 😎

Did you learn the reason why the woodpeckers had to go?

I have wondered if the foam stuffing started to decompose, producing a formaldehyde odor; or if they developed mildew.

And most definitely to Twin Peaks Season Three! Almost every scene has a lamp so special that it threatens to draw attention away from the actors: lamps are to season three what sweaters are to seasons one and two!

Your long lack of response to my offering has led me to conclude that I dislike you

I’m betting Laura’s unknown book in the Pilot is as thematically appropriate as “The Rose and The Ring” is in FWWM 🎰 👍🏻

Am I correct that these images are cropped from 4:3 ratio?

My recollection is that they looked different; and that the episodes were not shot in a cinema ratio, then cropped down to 4:3

A parallel insight that came to me a few years back: Charlotte Stewart echoing her Eraserhead role as the baby’s mother; nervously working scissors next to the telephone cord… echoing severing an umbilical cord; and Henry’s ✂️ cutting open the bandages and killing his infant.

Give this mask a try, it has four features which add up to a familiar character!

The encounter with Lil offers a method for the viewer to read this mask: name the features, and decide the meaning encoded in each one.

The mask is easier to decode than Lil. Four features add up to this character mask. The message was delivered to Laura.

The cynical attitude… just isn’t Lynchian

My initial interpretation was: final instructions on their behalf, should each fail to survive the mission. Last will. No testament.

I still feel that way… it adds to the dire energy of risking a score with Mr. C

I could count Otis’s moonshine as a “lamp” that might… shine 🌕

Mr. C beams out his darkness to suffuse the entire sequence, suppressing potential sources of light.

To my eyes, that’s not smoke; but groups of leaves on the tree.

My film prof in the early nineties gave the impression that Meshes was not widely available, even at that point.

At art school, while Lynch was in Philadelphia, I believe Meshes and At Land would have been very rare treats… and Lynch was absolutely not spending a lot of time at the “art houses”.

Once again, as so many times before, I am grateful to you: I have yearned for this information… since I saw LH.

If you ever find an answer to whether Lynch watched Carnival Of Souls, I know you will tell me he did not 😅❤️‍🔥

I saw Meshes for the first time this year and read the BFI book about it. I was stunned at how it resembled Lynch's work and felt he must have been influenced by it. So I did a little research: When Greg Olson asks Lynch about Deren (and Meshes) Lynch says he never saw it & knows nothing about it.

I knew Meshes years before Lost Highway was conceived, and accept the possibility; but Lynch’s work is rarely derivative. And he frequently has acknowledged his sources… but never Maya Deren? It makes me doubt he ever watched it.
