This is why interdependence, mutual aid, and community is important.

I'm pretty SOL on my own, but together, we can absolutely survive and thrive on this campaign 😂

End! 💜

Different characters have different HP and take damage way differently based on what else is going on in their character profile. It's not standard, and it shouldn't be. That's not how reality works.

For ex. I have like zero constitution. What a -2 would be for one person is a -99 for me

I consider this progress and I'm celebrating it!

Though, I hope the next time you hear someone talk about their "spoons," you think about this:

Maybe it isn't that I have more spoons, but the few spoons I do have are lasting longer.
Like how a "biodegradable" spoon that melts in your soup or tea is more durable than a cardboard spoon tucked in the lid of a yogurt cup that softens with each scoop. 😂

...to the point where I either needed frequent breaks (or a long break,) needed medicine, needed to rev my body’s engine, or needed to adapt to finish.

I had all kinds of pain, two coughing fits, innumerable instances of vertigo and other fun vestibular things, joints locking up...

- Lay the stems out to dry a bit
- Bring the stems inside
- Find something to put the stems in
- Put the stems in the thing

And yes, this is a short incomplete list of me "harvesting the lavender!"

Every bullet here required concerted effort and took substantial energy

- Reach and bend to cut each stem properly (you gotta cut right above the first set of leaves or they won't grow back right)
- Use scissors for an extended period of time
- Gather the stems
- Wash the stems
- Sort the stems by length
- Bundle each stem by their length group

So, lemme tell you just a small list of some of the spoonie steps this took for me:

- Prep myself by taking medicine
- Put on various creams and body braces
- Find appropriate clothes
- Put on the Clothes
- Find a stool
- Put on my shoes
- Settle myself accessibly by the lavender bush

I've got some new meds and treatments. I feel something is working. Not for the lungs, but I think for cognition and TBI stuff!

It started out with me agreeing to be happy to achieve any portion of my goal to harvest something from my garden, and the lavender is one of the most accessible.

My spoonie-ness isn't new. The *extent* of it is new after the inflammatory disease, this whole failing lung debacle, a TIA in March, and TBI's last year.

The hypoxia from the lung things and inflammation from the autoimmune things negatively impacted my recovery from the TBI things

Like, with chronic illness, you don't just "take a shower," you have to: Ensure you have the energy to stand, stand up, hydrate, gather your clothes, make sure your assistive devices are set, undress, step into the shower, stabilize on the wet shower floor, etc.

In the original story, the person is trying to explain how chronic illness changes how a bodymind works. Essentially, every part of a process that most would see as a single task becomes more complex, and in that complexity, becomes more difficult and inaccessible.

I'm happy that my spoons stretched enough to do the whole thing!

It also made me think about the original story and meaning of the term "Spoons."

Yes! I was hoping to eat it for Gluttonous Eating Holiday ™️

I read that brassicas are sweeter if you wait until a frost. Seattle doesn't seem to get many frosts.

But I go out and check on it each day, so I can eat it if it starts to fade... but it's still going strong!
