Good point. For our bicyclist clients who get hit by cars that clearly broke a law (running a stop sign or red light, failing to yield before turning across bike lane, etc.) we almost never see PPB issue citations unless there is intoxication or extreme speeding.

I passed a group of 25+ Tubman kids and parents this morning assembling near 10th and Tillamook to cross MLK, Williams and Vancouver as a group. My oldest will join them next year. Hoping they get added to this list soon.

Oregon did away with the wattage cap when we imposed a 3 class system. It’s just based on speed and whether or not there’s a throttle.

I had assumed that toggling to Class 3 would disable the throttle, but if not I agree that wouldn't be compliant.

In Oregon, we recently adopted Class 1, 2 and 3 definitions for e-bikes, and I do not see any prohibition on software that allows toggling between different classes. As if we did not have enough legal ambiguity around e-bikes already.

The sidewalk ban is pretty frustrating when the alternative is riding on a highway. In my experience, people tend to ride on the sidewalk as a last resort.

It’s supposed to phase out above $80k, but there’s a loophole for leases where GM takes the credit and passes it on to the lessee
