Doesn't matter. We have no way of knowing who got a hall pass and who didn't, so with very few exceptions, Senate Democrats cannot be trusted anymore. You aren't one of the exceptions.

This is disgusting.

I believe this applies for sarcasm and satire, as well.

Both agencies fall under DHS. The entire department has systemic issues and should be reorganized. Truly essential function should be relocated, and the Department eliminated. It was a terrible idea from the beginning.

As a government contractor who will not receive back pay for work missed due to the shutdown, I want Dems to hold the line on healthcare subsidies, at the very least.

Honestly, the price the Republicans pay to reopen should be higher today than yesterday, and higher tomorrow than today.
November 5, 2025 at 7:59 PM
Yeah. That's another favorite trick. Break a process by obstructing, and if the Dems do anything to keep government functioning, it is now precedent for whatever extreme thing the Republicans want to do.

That they don't care if the government is funded is an under-appreciated aspect of this whole thing. They are in government to destroy any part of government that doesn't directly serve the oligarchs.

They can change the filibuster rule with some procedural magic and a simple majority vote. They can pass their bill without Democrat votes, but they'd screw themselves in the future, since obstruction is their only strategy when they are in the minority.

It's always the 'fiscally responsible' public officials who seem to fail to grasp the concept of investment. It's so bad sometimes that one might be tempted to think that maximizing economic output isn't really the goal.
October 23, 2025 at 2:00 AM
Yeah, that sounds really bad.

What if the means of production were controlled by the people, democratically? Would that be better, since the people who control the economy always also control the government?

Nope, but if you look up the history of the term you'll see how they are related, historically (but not philosophically).

Some Republican politicians might mouth the words in a half-hearted way, if asked. Nothing like the stampede of liberals to the nearest camera to denounce political violence.

The rest would claim left-wing or trans violence, mock the dead, and win their next election by an even bigger margin.

Isn't Islamism a right-wing ideology? Isn't the desire to establish a theocracy or ethno-state inherently right-wing? Why are we differentiating?

94% right-wing. Because, of course.

We don't need a chief executive at all, ever. Maintaining the institution guarantees this will happen again.

Sure, in the short term, win elections and put better people in office. But long term, we need to be thinking about how to fix the problems enshrined in our antiquated constitution.

The scariest thing about the post-pandemic murder spike is knowing that more people are close to snapping than I am comfortable with.

Lockdown is my preferred lifestyle, too, but lock some introverts in their houses for a few months, then force them back into society, and suddenly it's the purge.

To be fair, the most common reaction to this whole scandal is apparently to think of the victims as an abstraction to be used for political effect.

Thanks for the reminder we shouldn't need. The victims were people.

That's barely a refresh, let alone a rebirth. An agenda that transfers ownership and control of the economy to workers and communities is actual ejection of the status quo, not just the bare minimum needed to make living in the country tolerable.

Sorry, that was an editing error. incentives are NOT aligned with peace.
July 24, 2025 at 1:22 AM
I think you missed the point. The reason we can't gain power is because people like you can't keep your idiot shitposting in your pants.

YOU have to make an argument people are willing to hear. No one cares how edgy you are if you can't make your point.

Help, or shut the fuck up.

N, just saying that what you are demanding won't provide anyone with safety, will make the situation much worse for everyone, including Palestine.

But that's what you guys do best, right? See: the last election
July 23, 2025 at 9:16 PM
What about the Israeli government makes you think they care about their civilian casualties? If anything, they use it as an excuse to go faster in Palestine. They outclass every other military in the region. Their political incentives are aligned with peace.

No, it will not disincentivize.
July 23, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Because that isn't what I'm arguing for? In this case, the morally pure solution would be a disaster for civilians on both sides. It'll speed up the cleansing in Palestine and get tons of Israeli civilians killed. The odds of regional conflict go way up.

We did this. 100%. We can't easily undo it.
