So I've been having lots of issues with stuttering in Oblivion Remastered. Turns out Resize Bar wasnt working even if toggled in BIOS.

Flashed system bios and VGA BIOS for my MSI 3080.
Framepacing is now smooth!

Let's give some appreciation for The Order 1886. It's 10 years old, hands down a lot more realistic & nicer looking than some modern titles.

The care, effort, craftmanship put into the visuals is stunning even 10 years later. Thanks DF for the gifs !

Considering how freakin well made #KingdomComeDeliverance2 is, maybe we should call these games Warhorse-likes instead of Bethesda-likes.

I'm really loving the game, its so awesome. Spent all weekend playing from morning til evening. It was great & just what I needed!

Played some #EternalStrands , 2-3h. Not sure what to say about it to be honest, for some reason it reminds me of Fable but without the charm & mystique. Like...a light action rpg with some weird decisions regarding inventory management.

Will keep playing & see what happens!

So I've been doing some tests using CustomDepth to isolate a post process material to only affect certain characters (cel-shading).

But me using CustomDepth also messes up Occlusion Culling for said characters (they dont), anybody got any tips to fix that?

They don't make em like they used to. These were some great times tbh, 2000s playing video-games (Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2), skateboarding, hanging out with your buddies.

Ahh simpler times ^^

Man Stalker is a long game! Had a funny interaction with a door yesterday as well I was just so surprised how fast it was closing after you get out of its range.

It basically slams itself shut and it surprised me XD

Really been enjoying Stalker, it's nice to be plating a pretty straight forward game, it's too bad it has some perf issues and missing some AI feature but still though, I'm enjoying it :)

So I've been playing Stalker 2 saturday evening & all day sunday. It's definitely a stalker game which is awesome, the visuals are alright! though overall quite noisy, ie the art content itself.

Some of the ground-clutter is just..ultra noise!
Having fun though!

Spent 63h in Dragon Age, basically 100% the game.

Its a 7/10 game & I don't really agree that its "back to form" for Bioware. It's an OK experience with some frustrating moments (mainly level design & progression)

Character art was great and overall world art :)

Now onto Stalker! Woop!

Watching the Half-Life 2 Documentary just really makes me realize just how much I miss the focus on physics interactions in games

Right now its just all pretty rendering & very little interaction which is not really what games should be doing imo! Breaking crates isn't it xD

I think it's weird that #DragonAgeVeilguard sometimes don't provide all the different personality/attitude options in dialogues. Forcing your character into behaving in ways you don't want.

Ie you cant have a stoic or tough character always behaving that way. The game doesn't let you.

When I talk about visual inconsistency in Dragon Age I'm basically talking about this:

If you look close at these images, nothing looks like it fits. Texel Density all over the place, noise-level all over the place, stylization, all over the place.

Scanned wood create, next to hand-made table.
November 9, 2024 at 6:10 PM
Dragon Age Veilguard definitely has some visual consistency issues art direction wise (previous posts) since some of the stuff comes from scans and some of it is hand-made.

It kinda makes for a mixed-bag visually

Here is an example of Megascan usage.

This is a little bit funny too.

Not sure why one would do that rather than just scale the mesh to a point or something.

& also I'm sorry if I'm being overly negative about the game, its a good game its just not the quality I expected in many ways.

#DragonAgeVeilguard has some uneven art direction in some areas & I'm currently on the main path.

The noise levels are crazy on some of these assets. Like this normal-noise placed on all the terrain & some of these rocks, contrasted against the cleaner marble. There must be a nicer middle-ground.

You know in Mass Effect when you had off-time between missions you'd walk around the Normandy & actually have dialogues with your companions?

Yeah Dragon Age doesn't have that.

They just sit there sometimes talk to you & you dont respond.

Makes the game feel a bit stiff =/
November 8, 2024 at 9:17 PM
Whenever you have dialogues that isn't with forced set companions, the companions never really weigh in with their opinions or say anything when you have dialogues with other people. You just randomly get "this person approves"

It's a bit weird tbh
