With all due respect, I don’t think that the current regime was a step in the right direction. Agreed, your political system has become corrupt but there are many reasons and entrenched congressional and judicial pillars that need to be dismantled and rebuilt. It will take great resolve to achieve.

I believe it was actually five bullets! Most Australians are very tolerant and welcoming of all races and religions but per usual, it’s the vocal minority that get all the media attention.

That is just so sad and so indicative of a repressive regime. The US has absolutely no right to criticise any other country for repressing their citizens now. I never thought I would see the day when I’d say that. Or is this who America always was and Trumpism has just allowed it to finally surface?

Correct, and that is why I would argue this is no mis-apportionment, it is the way it was designed to work. The problem arises when the power of the senate is deliberately misused. It is an inherent flaw that needs to be somehow resolved. But how?

In other words, the senate represents the interests of the states, especially geographically and culturally, whereas the house represents the views of the population. 2)

Notwithstanding the situation in the US, which I think is a different kettle of fish, the reasoning behind the senate numbers in Australia is so that every state has an equal say in what laws are enacted so that all STATES are treated equally. 1)

This harks directly back to 2009 when, if not for the greens we would have had a carbon trading scheme. They are their own worst enemy and definitely not fit to represent their constituents.
