I honestly think you are completely overestimate the ability of broadcast media in 2025 to shape political beliefs. Also worth noting that the story here from the BBC is highlighting Reform’s support for fracking - a particularly *unpopular* position.

Do you believe current opinion polls have anything to tell us about the current state of political support in the country?

You might as well complain that the media is giving too much coverage to Jeremy Corbyn’s new party, given its lack of MPs

Aah - but have you ever changed your mind about anything?

Desirable, of course. A space where people can disagree and perhaps even change each others mind isn’t a bad aspiration

…. And of course, if it did that, you’d have to cope with interminable stories on the ‘shocking way that the BBC ignores its own scandles while reporting on everyone else’s’. It’s going the right thing.

I imagine the motorway signs would say exactly the same today if something similar happened. Not sure the image tells you much about societal change.

Print headlines and online headlines have different constraints. Print headlines are much more constrained by space. If the reader is holding your print product they have typically already acquired it (front page headlines excepted) so no need for ‘clickbait’). Online needs to think SEO and clicks
