You jest, of course, but I'm coming to believe the Mad King would do such a thing. We still haven't seen a crack in the wall of Republican support on the insane stuff he's already doing and all the norms he's destroying.

Youre probably right. You have always had a unique ability to discern the right wing zeitgeist better than anyone I know. It's why I've been an avid follower for years. I lost track of you for awhile after you left Twitter. Glad I rediscovered you on Bluesky.

Trump is the very creature the GOP criticized Obama of being: a cult of personality. While this is true, to a degree, Obama never exerted the control of the democratic apparatus as has Trump. There were plenty of democrats willing to buck him - Blanche, Nelson, Lieberman, etc. Not so with Trump.

Trump is the very creature the GOP criticized Obama of being: a cult of personality. While this is true, to a degree, Obama never exerted the control of the democratic apparatus as has Trump. There were plenty of democrats willing to buck him - Blanche, Nelson, Lieberman, etc. Not so with Trump.
Trump gets away with stuff because he has complete control of the GOP apparatus and mythology. There's no one else in the GOP who can fill his shoes. I agree Vance is more intelligent but he's also a conventional politician without the charisma and chutzpah of Trump. Of course, I could be wrong.

We don't even know who the killer was or what their motive was yet a vast cross section of the political right is inciting violence against the left.
