Natalie Cressman’s folks are #jazz musicians. Her dad also played trombone w/ Carlos Santana’s band.
Brazilian trained guitarist Ian Faquini met Natalie through collaboration with her dad. The pair have since put out 3 albums together.

I have been informed that @beehiiv.com has more than 10,000 RSVPs for our Winter Release Event. That's kind of amazing actually. I just passed 3 years working here, it's been pretty great. I don't say that about many jobs I've had in the last 30 years.
The hype is kind of funny but we did put a lot of effort into the Winter Release Event. If you're interested in the bleeding edge of newsletter platforms, this is worth signing up for.

I know that part of the world better than most people, and putting a wall through the west AZ desert was stupid in a whole lot of different ways.
Seriously though, this comes from a beautiful photo essay of a strange and troubling subject. I highly recommend it.

some jazzers have been griping about Hancock’s vocoder ad-lib segment, which he’s been doing every set. Allow me to set you straight. Herbie Hancock is one of the greatest musicians ever to live and in the context of music if he makes a choice then that is the right choice. Hope this clarifies
just saw Herbie Hancock at the Strathmore. played almost exclusively progressive jazz, went ~1 hour over time, much of the overage stemming from a nearly 40m lecture on evolution, compassion, & futurism done entirely via vocoder, and saved almost all the accessible fusion for post-lecture. the GOAT!

My high school jazz band had one of these. We used it on a flute solo on a memorable performance of Birdland that won 3 or 4 players scholarships for that one single performance.
