NOAA is scrambling to fill 155 vacancies at the National Weather Service, I reported earlier in Morning Energy. Dems are drawing attention to the openings, calling NOAA's pleas an admission that Trump's cuts leave the nation unprepared for storms.

Yeah no good options here. The CR making it out of the house was not ideal for the Dems. I can still see the case for why the shutdown should happen, but at this point if the house can pass stuff, Dems have limited tools at their disposal.

A question that isn't obvious to me. It makes sense why Dems should vote against cloture on the CR. The impoundment stuff really sucks. What's the plan after the shutdown? Hope that Dems don't get the blame for the shutdown and then see if Republicans will do the clean CR or end the DOGE nonsense?
