Another GFF in the books. A wild ride with ups and downs but the feedback from audiences and good times shared with this team fill my heart with such joy. Who knows what’s next for me and the festival with changes coming but here’s hoping I’ll be along for the ride. GFF forever x

Tonight will forever be a memory burned into my brain. Toni Collette showed up for our Muriel’s Wedding pop up event at #gff25. So happy to share this moment with the team and our amazing audience. All other film festivals, just give up. We have completed it mate.

STEALING PULP FICTION
A comedy! This story of two best friends that hatch a plan to steal Quentin Tarantino’s personal film print of Pulp Fiction is offbeat and silly with plenty of laughs to be had. Plus, there is a (kinda) cameo in this that made me choke with laughter.

VENI VIDI VICI
A spikey satire that feels a mix of SALTBURN/SPEAK NO EVIL if it was directed by Ruben Östlund. It contains plenty of darkly comedic moments and doesn’t shy away from showing its disdain for the rich and how the evil they are capable of is often ignored.

U ARE THE UNIVERSE
Ukrainian sci-fi about a lone astronaut who upon finding out the world has been destroyed, embarks on a mission to connect with a mysterious voice he hears over his intercom. Reminiscent of MOON and is funny and heartbreaking. Such an impressive debut feature.

CRICKET'S, IT'S YOUR TURN
Reminded me of Coralie Fargeat's REVENGE but with less blood and more of a scathing look at the patriarchy and toxic masculinity as a young woman gets caught up in a deadly game of cat and mouse after taking a trip away with a young man she has just met.

GAZER
I was really taken by this neo-noir thriller that feels like a companion to MEMENTO as a young woman, who suffers from a brain disorder that causes her to lose track of time, gets caught up in a web of deceit that threatens her life and chances of getting her daughter back.

THE LUCKIEST MAN IN AMERICA
Based on the real-life scandal in the 80s about an Ice Cream truck driver who won hundreds of thousands of dollars on a game show after he had memorised the patterns of the game. Great cast including Paul Walter Hauser and Walton Goggins!

STATIONED AT HOME
A wee gem that is a worthy addition to any alternative Christmas movie list. A little Jarmuschian, a little Lynchian and a whole lot of heart as a taxi driver hopes to catch a glimpse of the International Space Station flying past whilst working on Xmas Eve.

EBONY & IVORY
From the man who brought you THE GREASY STRANGLER, comes an equally bonkers tale about two pop icons who meet at a Scottish cottage to discuss a potential collaboration. Bound to be a marmite film but I had a great time with it. Absurd and fun!

SHARP CORNER
Excellent thriller as Ben Foster puts in an amazing performance as a family man who begins to throw everything away after a car accident happens on his front lawn. The third act of this film is truly haunting stuff and has stuck with me since I saw it.

Out of office officially on for Christmas. Can’t wait to unleash the GFF25 programme out into the world but until then here is a wee list of my fave UK releases this year (in no particular order)
