Sorry! I'm not across costs for pensioners because I pay "full" price. Thats $35 or so for insulin which lasts me about 4 months.
I could sob when I see what insulin costs in the US.

I was trained for six months before I was allowed near a customer. I could do manual calculations of all the payments in any circumstance (probably could still do some of them 😂).
Putting staff in front of distressed clients without proper training is cruel to both parties.
People matter!

Is every single thing in these guys lives about their dick?

That whole 'alpha' thing is just about dicks, isn't it?

Will they EVER grow up?
November 11, 2025 at 2:23 AM
I have no idea what it costs when I have hospital care because I don't have to pay any of it and I've never seen a bill.
Prescription meds are capped at $35 for everyone. If you get a pension they are $6.

I must live in horrible socialist country I guess.

I worked for Centrelink for more than a decade. Every person who came through those doors was having a REALLY bad day.
We were trained to recognise and respond to that.
Now there are hardly enough staff and they are mostly untrained contractors who use scripts. Its not helping.

The idea that everyone getting any type of welfare MUST be dishonest, must be punished, is just so awful.
Its a small fraction of government spending. Compared to, say, things like a fucking STADIUM, its nothing. Just let them be. Support people who can't support themselves. Its called humanity.
November 11, 2025 at 2:03 AM
Its about punishing and policing the unemployed, the under-employed, and the disabled. (The disability employment network is even worse in many ways). And its about profits, lots and lots of lovely money.
November 11, 2025 at 1:43 AM
The ones run by religious charities are just as bad. Their profits and there are plenty of them - are redistributed to their other projects. Like opposing same sex marriage, and campaigning against trans people.
The whole system has never been about getting jobs for people.

Not where we are, thank goodness, but the wind definitely feels like its coming off snow!
November 11, 2025 at 1:37 AM
When the job network contract is up (I think its usually 3 years?) the Job Network provider company is dissolved, a new one is formed and they bid for the new contract. And the whole thing continues.
The directors have expensive car leases, mortgage payments made, but its "not for profit".
November 11, 2025 at 1:36 AM
Those companies 'employ' job seekers, usually on trials that just go past the required time period. The garden company gets a gov incentive payment. The job network company gets an outcome payment. The employee gets the sack. And it starts again.
November 11, 2025 at 1:34 AM
They don't want to get jobs for people. They want to milk the system. And its sophisticated. The parent company bids to be a Job Network provider. They have another company that, say, cleans their offices. Thats expensive and uses up "profits". They have other companies that do gardening or laundry
November 11, 2025 at 1:33 AM
The CES didn't "get" people jobs exactly but it did provide training and services to enable people to get their own jobs. And no one was making a profit from it.
Now "not for profit" companies (who make a profit but just move it to other companies) make money from every interaction.

4.6 here. Was 11 degrees when we woke up. I've just put another jumper and a scarf on!

Twice now I have typed what I think will happen but its too dark and horrific for me to actually press the post button.
It will be bad. We think the world is horrible now, and descending into chaos. That's gonna get worse with the cumulative brain damage of repeated Covid infections.
November 11, 2025 at 1:15 AM
Oh that is gorgeous!
November 10, 2025 at 8:53 AM
Ditto! What utter bastards they are.
November 10, 2025 at 7:20 AM
Laws was a cunt in so many ways.
We had lunch at a table near him in the Hunter Valley 15 years or so ago. He was so rude to the (mainly female) staff even his guests were embarrassed. Revolting.
November 10, 2025 at 6:44 AM
Who does he think is re-electing him?
Are there really that many Alan Jones fans and Pell supporters out there?

Grief is exhausting. All the admin that goes with it is exhausting.
Sleep is the most important thing for your poor brain right now.
Be gentle with yourself.
Time goes both so fast and so slowly. 💔

What did you buy????
November 10, 2025 at 6:36 AM
Yes, it’s here to stay as long as hardly anyone is masking. If everyone masked, all the time in public, for 12 weeks, it would be wiped out.
People are idiots. My sympathy is exhausted.
November 10, 2025 at 6:34 AM
“Unusual”. Nah, it’s not. It’s a known sequelae of Covid infections but no one wants to say that in public so they rely on weasel words like “unusual”.
They could say “Flu is worse this year because immune systems are damaged by Covid”
Deliberate abandonment of honesty & public health principles.
