My favourite books of the year, fiction and non-fiction:

The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi . It's absolutely wonderful.

Time Tangle by Leslie (Danny) Daniels. Danny was a part of our church until he died recently. This was a story he told over a number of years when he was a primary school teacher, that he then turned into a book at the age of 91! It's really good, a really exciting adventure and really well told.

The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory. I'm fascinated by this period of history.

Small Island by Andrea Levy. Quite possibly the best book I've read this year, and made me cry several times!

I think Blood & Sugar by Laura Shepherd-Robinson was the last book to have that effect on me.

A Memory of Souls by Jenn Lyons. It's the third book of A Chorus of Dragons, which is a brilliant series. I urgently need to get hold of book 4, so I'll be getting in touch with my favourite indie bookshop as soon as I get paid next week!

The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory. I love this period of history (Henry VI, Edward IV, Henry VII) but definitely feel the author is too kind to Elizabeth Woodville!

Setting up for tomorrow's baptism!

I'm reading The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie. I am pretty sure the murderer is this suspicious old woman who lives next door called Miss Marple.
