This proposal would improve affordability and sustainability of major performing arts venue in the region, both current ones and potential future ones (as is being developed on the West Shore). Next step, drafting a bylaw and service plan. The critical vote will happen in September or October.

The number of board members is arbitrary here. Could be anywhere between 9-15 but capped (does not grow with population) and a big improvement over 41, especially if they are dedicated to this local govt role only.

A better option that Deloitte has missed: have 12 directly elected board members. Same candidates on all municipal ballots as a separate election question. You can't run for both muni council and regional district council. Democratic, focused, regionally-minded.

The report advises the Hybrid Option of appointed and elected board members (50/50 split suggested). This is on page 20 and 47 of the report. This option is needlessly complicated and would create obvious division and confrontation between appointed and elected members.

No mention of artists/creators in Conservative budget, but there is $1B in reductions to CBC and "crown corporations" which could include the Canada Council for the Arts, NFB, and Telefilm (i.e less funding for arts).
