Planner, transport planner, environmentalist, husband, season ticket holder @saracens, @Guardian crossworder, painter. Charity trustee. Old school leftie (although my father was a Toolmaker).
Nigel Farage’s being a racist is not news. People voting Reform have already factored this in. I don’t think this is quite the gotcha that @theguardian.com thinks it is.

How does a DG who stood as a Tory candidate and was vice-chair of his local Conservative Association get to be evidence of the #BBC’s leftwing bias? I’ll wait.

That’ll be the project delivered late and massively over budget, then?

Not convinced. I hope those responsible were happy to se the obvious distress #Woakes was in while #England lost.

So what happened to “player welfare”? And why isn’t a sub allowed for a bona fide injury (although #Siraj can be subbed and put his feet up for half an hour or Gile bowled).

Given the #worldcup is up next and @redrosesrugby.bsky.social are favourites, why isn’t the UK media all over this? @england-rugby.bsky.social being their usual inept selves?

Because, yes, we all made our best choices for when we were 16. I know I did:

That’s an interesting spelling also. Theta = O; no D or S in Greek; Psi = Y and Sigma = E. Nothing like Oδύσσεια.

While working as a planning consultant for over 40 years, one of the most common phrases I heard was “that might work in London, but that’s not how we do things here”. Rest of the UK: Be more London!

This describes #planning policy in #London for the last 60 years, or hadn’t she noticed?

There’s a persistent problem here (in Enfield) with delivery drivers driving and parking on the pavement, behind cycle lanes and bus stops. Also constant buck-passing between councillors, parking enforcement and police about who’s responsible for stopping it. It’s been illegal for years in London.

I don’t understand how they didn’t see this coming (or did they?). Anyone who’s visited Saudi will know you can’t buy or consume alcohol anywhere, so it ought not to be a great surprise.

I know all about the franchise process, having been directly involved on both sides. DfT is happy for the TOCs to make cost savings at the expense of service levels, so stay mum.

I’ve asked #Govia many times in the past 3 years when the service they were franchised to run will be restored, but have received no answer. Guess they’re enjoying the cost savings that boost profits too much!

I live on the #Thameslink line, and there’s no sign of our pre-Covid service being restored. We have 2 tph instead of the former 3 tph. This contrasts with the nearby and parallel #LondonOverground which has 4 tph. I

Looks like you’re in the East Stand to me.

Also worth remembering that if a developer is successful appealing a refusal, costs can be awarded against the planning authority. A gentle reminder of this from officers often works wonders.
