A beautiful day at Rye Harbour. Sadly having to spend time on our response to the dreadful #biobead pollution incident. Tragically 100,000s or even millions have spilled out across the saltmarsh. As yet the impacts on wildlife are unclear

I'm always amazed how many migrant moths come across the channel at this time of year. It mustbe millions, or even 10s of millions. A joy when species like the Olive tree Pearl turns up in your garden moth trap

Said our farewells to conservation and birding legend Tony Marr. Founder of the @sussexornitholo.bsky.social Council member of @rspb.bsky.social and key figure in the BOU. He was also the driving force behind the succesful campaign to protect Pagham and Rye Harbour as nature reserves. RIP

Knapweed Broomrape on the #SouthDowns Mill Hill LNR. Parasitic on Greater Knapweed. Didnt seem as many this year - site looks like a bit overgrown and in need of a haircut!

Parasitic (not common) Common Dodder, double figure count of Silver-studded Blues and 2 singing Tree Pipits in a brief visit to Iping Common SWT reserve. Love this heathland site!

Chiddingfold Forest is a wildlife rich woodland on the Sussex-Surrey border. Nightingales, a Cuckoo and the site speciality - Wood Whites! Well worth a visit - hardly a soul around
