Me discussing how Trump is weaponising his Justice Dept to attack his enemies

"Justice is meant to be about "here's a crime, let's find out who did it and prosecute them", but instead Trump is saying "here's the person I want to prosecute, find me the crime".

Here is the section where I explain why I think protecting the independence of scientific and evidence generating public bodies (like ONS, the Met Office, Environment Agency, Food Standards Agency etc) is crucial for supporting democracy.

and now with added bar charts showing number of actions per month by domain. Clear massive growth in recent months in "violating democratic norms", "suppressing dissent", and "Nationalism"

The Trump Action Tracker has an update!

Main change is to break down the five authoritarian domains into ten - this allows for easier understanding of why actions have been logged and more tools for searching / filtering the now 1621 actions.

I've been getting reports from people that some virus checkers are flagging TrumpActionTracker.info

I can assure you that it is safe!

But not sure how to prevent this - esp if people are falsely reporting it as malicious

Quick update on Covid in England - hospital data showing that the latest significant Covid wave is - thankfully - on its way down.

it's just so so mad and evil, as I pointed out yesterday!
Clearly, I wasn't interpreting it wrong.

Draft Tory legislation on removing indefinite leave to remain is insane.

Would chuck out those not earning over £38K - including many pensioners!

+ social protections seems to include child benefit, so load of people with (British!) kids!

They'd remove my sis & mum who've been here 50 years.

Meanwhile her active but very stupid brother

(he's not demonstrating his stupidity here. That would be yesterday when I had to pick him up to put him in front of his food as he couldn't work out how to walk to the other side of his sister)

Timeline cleanse
came across tiny postman's gardens in old London where there is a wall of plaques, set up in 1900, for ordinary people who sacrificed themselves to save others...

Beautiful small garden and beautiful tributes

We also carried out polling with @moreincommonuk.bsky.social .

The public strongly favours independence for our scientific bodies. 71% say it is more important for them to be independent of the Government than controlled by it, regardless of their political party affiliation. 9/11

It’s like living in a castle with holes in the walls, an open gate or weak foundations.

These don’t matter if no one attacks you, but once they do, you might wish you’d patched the defences while you had the chance.

This is a vulnerability map for 8 key bodies: ONS, OBR, Food Standards Agency, MHRA, Met Office, UKRI, Natural England, & UKHSA.

ONS has the most independence. All but ONS have ministerially appointed leadership. 3 could be abolished with no oversight as they have no statutory basis.

Just fuck off with this. How about start the conversation by highlighting how much immigrants contribute to the UK - not least by propping up the NHS and social care system!

Also - forced volunteering is not volunteering, it's unpaid labour.
