Member of Parliament for St Catharines

Is this place going to be like the time when Twitter was enjoyable?
My reponse to Marineland's letter to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans:

A minute isn’t nearly enough to say goodbye to a friend as accomplished as Jim Bradley. But it was important for me to rise in the House and pay tribute to his remarkable life of service.

Marineland requested federal approval to sell beluga whales to a facility in China. The Minister of Fisheries has rightly denied that request.

To borrow a line from Shakespeare, Jim Bradley was as constant as the Northern Star.

Horrific news from the Kiwanis Aquatics Centre in St. Catharines, where a child was tragically killed.
Words can’t express the heartbreak.

Our community mourns with the family and loved ones. In moments like this, we must come together and support one another.

Last week, Pierre Poilievre and Conservative MPs attacked the Crown prosecutors in the Tamara Lich / Chris Barber convoy trial

What's maybe more remarkable is Poilievre only did this after far-right influencers called him out and began questioning his leadership

I broke this down for @thestar.com:
For Pierre Poilievre, defending Freedom Convoy convicts is a political survival strategy
The Conservative leader needs to keep the far-right elements of his base fired up.

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

This year feels different. At a time when Canada faces new global challenges, we’re also seeing Canadians come together in ways we haven’t in years.

Big news from PM Mark Carney today: Canada is rebuilding, rearming, and reinvesting in our Armed Forces.

We’re hitting NATO’s 2% defence target this year—5 years early.

Canada’s new government just introduced the Strong Borders Act — focused on safety, security, and integrity.

It strengthens:
🔹 Border inspections
🔹 Coast Guard patrols & intel
🔹 Immigration + asylum systems
🔹 Anti-money laundering rules
🔹 Canada Post’s authority to stop crime by mail

Canada’s new cabinet met for the first time this morning.

One of our first orders of business: a tax cut for the middle class. Starting July 1, hard-working Canadians will keep more of their paycheques.

Thank you, St. Catharines! I’m honoured and humbled to be re-elected for a fourth term in Parliament. It’s the privilege of a lifetime to serve this community. I’m ready to get back to work and continue fighting for you.

Bas Slujimers skipped the only local debate—and now we know why. Comparing a woman’s right to choose to the Holocaust is vile and extremist. In 2025, we’re still fighting for bodily autonomy. St. Catharines deserves better.

It is concerning that the Conservative candidate did not show up to the only debate scheduled for St. Catharines.

If you want the job, you have to show up for work. It’s about being accountable and standing up for what we believe in, even if others disagree.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been reminded that in times of crisis, you want Justin Trudeau in your corner—fighting for you.

As we choose a new leader today, I just want to say: It has been an honour to serve with him.

Thank you, Prime Minister.

Let’s be honest—development charges are a tax on new housing. Most homes in Niagara were built without them, yet today they make new housing even harder and more expensive to build.

Too many Niagara politicians talk about the housing crisis but refuse to take action. 🧵👇

Canada needs a leader who will build a stronger, more prosperous future for all.

I’m proud to endorse Mark Carney
as the next Leader of the Liberal Party. His vision, experience, and dedication to Canadians make him the right choice to keep moving our country forward.

Carlos Garcia was a fierce advocate for the residents of Port Dalhousie, always ensuring that their interests were put first.

He was hard working and passionate about St Catharines and our heritage. He was always working to make our City a better place.

Back in 2020 we banned more than 1500 models of military style assault weapons (including the AR-15).

Yesterday, we annouced an additional 324 weapons to the list. These are semi-automatic weapons with the sustained rapid fire capability. These are weapons designed for war, not hunting.
