It's hard to stand up to power, but institutions choosing to ignore the people they serve in favor of a despot is criminally unprofessional. I understand the desire, as risk-averse institutions, to hide and hope they don't come for you next, but they already have and will continue to do so.

Rereading this audio book. Given the brutality the Assyrians employed in their later years makes me ponder if humanity hasn’t changed and if it’s just the tools that have evolved.
